Our heritage

Our history begins in the early 50’s with our grandfather Leonidas, who, making his passion his profession, starts to vinify varieties of Arcadia and neighbouring prefectures and then sells his product in bulk.

In the early 1970s, the next generation took over, putting the -until then- ‘forgotten’ Moschofilero on the map.

The name Nassiakos encapsulates the tradition and knowledge of three generations in the field of quality Greek wine.

In the early 1980s an exemplar winery is created, where Moschofilero is now bottled as PDO Mantinia.

At the same time, natural sparkling wine is produced from this charismatic variety.

With a quiver full of knowledge and experience from the vineyards of Peloponnese, chemist-winemaker Leonidas Nassiakos continues the family tradition, creating a boutique winery in the heart of Mantinia Appellation.

He places great emphasis on the variety that is inextricably linked to the family and aims to take it to its vinous limits and promote it to every part of the globe.

Our philosophy

Our vision is the utilization and promotion of indigenous varieties, through single-varietal labels and unique blends.

We develop our estate-owned vineyards step by step, always with sustainability in mind, while at the same time we stand by our partners-vintners, tightening even more the already long-standing bonds with them.

Our goal is to create high quality wines, by controlling the production process in all its stages, from the vineyard to the bottle, with the commitment to strive every day to satisfy the demands of every wine lover, with absolute respect.

The winery

Novus Winery, is the new effort of Leonidas Nassiakos, with its first vintage, that of 2022. It is located in the heart of the Mantinia Appellation, at an altitude of 650 meters on the 3rd km of the Old National Road Tripolis – Argous, 3 km away from the city of Tripoli and just 800 meters from the entrance junction of the highway, ensuring easy access to it.

The new venture of the Chemist-Oenologist Leonidas Nassiakos, comes after several years of activity, experience and knowledge about the vineyard of Mantinia, Nemea and Mountainous Aegialia, enriched with the tradition of three generations in the field of wine, in a well-equipped, modern and innovative winery.

From November 2024 onwards, Novus winery will be open to wine lovers, offering them new wine experiences.

The vineyard

Our estate-owned vineyards are located in the heart of the Mantinia Appellation at an altitude of 650 meters and the variety we cultivate exclusively is Moschofilero.

Part of our vineyards are cultivated organically, while our goal is to gradually follow the same process for the entire cultivation.

Along with our own vineyards, we have signed cooperation contracts with vine growers in Mantinia, Nemea and Mountainous Aegialia, from whom we obtain the other grape varieties that are included in the winery’s labels.

We deeply believe that winemaker and vine grower must work closely together, as the common goal of both must be the quality improvement of the final product.

Moschofilero

Since 1970, the Nassiakos family has placed particular emphasis on the revival and promotion of Moschofilero and Mantinia, and we continue with exactly the same philosophy in this new effort.
